Phi Phi Island Diary July 2003
Phi Phi Tourism and the hotels
The island is taking on it’s usual July feel as many younger travelers taking gap years and students from European Universities make the most of their summer. The hotel rooms rates are very low by high season standards, with a fan bungalow at the
Phi Phi Andaman Beach Resort ( has it’s own swimming pool) only 600 THB. As the streets fill with the back packing scene the air is alive to the full gamut of Phi Phi life. There always seems to be alot more interaction with the local Phi Phi Island people in this season as the longer term traveler is not so rushed and has time.

Phi Phi for sale
- Top Guest house is for sale at a reported 1 million THB with a 3 year contract. It will need quite a bit of work, but is thought to be a half decent deal.
- The first 7 days on Phi Phi in July have had poor weather with rain every second day and a continual wind from the West. This lead to many people leaving the island in search of some mainland distractions.
- By the 8th the weather had dramatically cleared leaving perfect sunshine and views of the islands. Perfect photography weather.
