Phi Phi bars and nightlife pictures

There is something special about the sunset in the tropics. It screams, "pass me a cocktail" and give me the best view you've got. Some of the bars down on the beaches have that classic laid back feel especially on Long Beach, Carpe Diem near Phi Phi Villa resort and Phi Phi View Point bar. Eating is varied and special on Phi Phi islands and some of the best restaurants are in the village. The dress is informal at best with many cruising around with same beach clothes makes it very relaxing. The more you like to dress up the more you will want to make your way in to the village. In Laem Tong, the Holiday Inn and Zeavola are more formal. The bars at night can be wild. There is something on the island which makes for a regular New Year Eve feeling and the nights are brilliant. Watch out for the fliers handed out to announce parties and or check out the Phi Phi forum on this website.

Wine song and dance as the saying goes. Phi Phi Nightlife used to be a simple fair with a few beers and some easy cocktails. Now you can get a selection of good wines all over Phi Phi islands.

This wine photo was taken at HC Andersen Restaurant but there are also good wine lists at the Grand Blue, on at Zeavola Resort and at The Holiday Inn Phi Phi Resort and Spa and finally at PP Island Village Resort and Spa.

PP Charlies before the Tsunami Photo Phi Phi Island

PP Charlies before the Indian Ocean Tsunami was probably the most famous bungalow resort on Phi Phi Island. Charlie got the prime land on Loh Dalum beach in the late 1980’s and built a perfect combination of travelers hotel rooms and fun bar and bakery restaurant.

Years past with PP Charlies being the only place that was full high season and low season. It was Phi Phi islands busiest most popular and loved resort.

The Tsunami wave flattened the resort with a great loss of life.

Phi Phi Nightlife improved when the Irish bar opened. This photo doesn’t do justice to the atmosphere this place generates. Buzzing fun loving people hang out here most nights to talk of their diving or cliff jumping or their laziness on Phi Phi.

The street outside the Irish Bar Photo Phi Phi Island

The busy time on Phi Phi island is from 6-9pm. This is because most people have finished their tours, show and get ready to go out. It can be hot during the day and so when the sun goes down on Phi Phi at about 6.30pm this is the best time to go for an explore and even arrange a dive or snorkel trip.

The street outside the Irish bar is always busy as this is at the cross roads of all things Phi Phi Nightlife. Where to eat where to meet and lastly where to go is the buzz but many start the evening at the Irish bar.

Karma bar is the Phi Phi Nightlife personified. Hang out right on the beach and watch the sun go down, grab a bite to eat from their extensive menu and then party all night. I’m telling you this is Phi Phi Nightlife at it’s best.

The islands divers will often end up here at the end of a day to help celebrate their students completing their courses. The restaurant staff will arrive around 12 pm when they have cleaned up the kitchens. The parties go on all night and when they kick you out there is always the beach……

A big evening at HC Andersens Photo Phi Phi Island

HC Andersen restaurant on Phi Phi is owned by the enigmatic Matts from Denmark. Matt came to Phi Phi island and first started by giving fliers out for the Tintin’s bar while it was in it’s hey day. Matts fell in love so much with Tintin’s that he bought it and Tintin’s got bigger and better.

After running Tintin’s for a couple of season he started his now trademark HC Andersen restaurant which has been a big success on Phi Phi Island since opening. Good European steaks and Scandinavian specialties make the restaurant a favorite with the large northern European traveling scene.

Since then Matt has gone to start HC Andersen Hotel Guest House close to the Ayudhaya Bank near the Reggae bar. The rooms are fully equipped and very convenient.

Tintins bar before the Tsunami Photo Phi Phi Island

Phi Phi Tintin’s bar was a legend on the island until the Indian Ocean Tsunami swept the bar away in 5 minutes.

This bar used to be the only place to be on Phi Phi and was the first place to celebrate the low season and in effect lengthen the busy season on the island. Until 1997 many shops closed for low season. Now may stay open.

Busy like you cannot imagine Tintin’s Bar would conjure a New Years Eve atmosphere for most of the high season . With it’s own brand of build up college rock moving onto an Indie anthem followed by funky and groovy sound, Tintin’s finished most nights with a full on dance scene. This place used to explode with fun and you could here about the big nights on Khao San Road, Chaign Rai and Koh Phang Ngan.

You can still see floor where Tintin’s once was and it reminds you of those days where the whole place was filled with sand and coconut palms and the place was jumping.

Great Memories. Here’s to all those who enjoyed a night at Phi Phi Tintin’s Bar.
