Phi Phi: People and Fun

It's got to be said that this is my favorite Phi Phi gallery. Just look at the faces here on the pictures and you can see that people have fun on Phi Phi. I prefer the trips out to the beaches of Maya Bay on Phi Phi Don Island and for me there is nothing better than picking up a snorkel and jumping on a Kayak in Tonsai Bay and paddling round to Wang Long. You might just hang out on the beaches at Loh Dalum on Phi Phi Don and play volleyball or sip a cocktail. My friends on Phi Phi enjoy the fun packed nightlife and bar scene. What ever is your thing... you will enjoy Phi Phi island.

Photo Brilliant snorkeling team on Phi Phi Island

This Photo on Phi Phi island shows the brilliant snorkeling to be had. There is 20km of coast line and all of it can be snorkeled though 99% or people snorkel just 20% of the reefs. This is the secret of Phi Phi Island. Go just a bit beyond where everyone else is snorkeling and you can be sure of amazing afternoons with just you the sea and reef.

My favorite off piste! Reefs are on the walls of Phi Phi ley up near Viking Cave and on the long remote reefs of the west coast of Phi Phi Don.

Family longtail boat trips Photo Phi Phi Island

Phi Phi Family tours can best be made by longtail boats. One can visit the best beaches in Thailand by jumping on the boats at the Phi Phi pier and heading off for Phi phi Ley.

Grab some snorkel equipment and hang out on Maya Bay or Bamboo island National Park. The beach at Bamboo island is probably the best for toddlers as the coral reef is a good 30 meters off shore. Maya Bay has a sandy beach but the tide can make it too shallow for the rest of the family.

Maya bay Photo opportunity, Phi Phi Island

Who hasn’t posed for a Photo? But who has resisted the opportunity to pose for a Photo on the world class Phi Phi Maya Bay on Phi :Phi Ley. There must be more photographs taken of Maya Bay than anywhere in Thailand. It is the most photogenic and well trumpeted as the prettiest beach in Thailand.

I like Maya bay when it is at the end of the day when the day trippers have left and only a few snorkeling tours enjoy the serenity of the Phi Phi ley cliffs. After a bigh day in the sun the long shadows from the walls calm the soul.

This photo of Suda is a classic. The Irish bar on Phi Phi Don is owned by Suda and Pi Owen of the Reggae bar and every year they through a bash for the whole island. Drinks eats, a welcome and a buzz that you haven’t seen before is pretty standard for the Irish bar. This is a fun sports bar to hang out in.

The best bar on Phi Phi Photo Phi Phi Island

Can there be a best bar on Phi Phi Island, or best bar in Thailand. I don’t thinks so but many might claim it.

For me my favourite Phi Phi bar was Tintin’s bar at around 2000 when Phi Phi island got Mobile Phones, Cable TV and internet all in one year. The island discovered itself and realized it was part of the wider world. The buzz on the streets was undeniable and the buzz in the bars was fantastic. Tintin’s bar was the main place then and every night it was full to capacity dancing till dawn. It was stunning nightlife and I think the best the island has ever scene.

Now the big bars are The Reggae bar, Apache and Karma Bar and though they defiantly go off there isn’t the same pioneer feeling of something new happening.

Before anybody mails me on this the Crazy House before the Tintin bar was as good if not better but I am biased as I used to run Tintin’s…!

The best beach in the world, Maya Bay Photo Phi Phi Island

The best beach in the world is Maya Bay, I don’t care what people say. Maya bay is simply the best.

When Leonardo Di Caprio made a film about paradise lost in the movie “The Beach” he chose Maya because the perfect silky sand beach is framed by the classic walls of Phi Phi Ley.

To visit Maya bay is to get a glimpse of paradise. To stand on the beach alone with no one in sight is to be in paradise.
