Phi Phi Don Village Image Gallery

Images of Phi Phi island are not complete without some views of the village itself. A curious mix of cheek by jowl ramshackle tin houses, modern dive shops, clothes shops narrow streets this is a true Asian Bazaar for the tourist. Some find it too intense but many enjoy the rich colors of life and individual lifestyle represented. I like going to Phi Phi island in the middle of High season when the streets are full and the bars and restaurants are humming. In low season the bazaar appeals to those who want to get feel of the local Phi Phi color, those who have a bit more time to get to know the place.

back streets of Phi Phi Island near Tara Inn Photo

The back streets of Phi Phi behind the Tara Inn and PP Charlies offer an interesting walk. These streets bridge the Phi Phi pier and PP Casita, PP Phitarom and PP Viewpoint Resort and are full of a random collection of guesthouses for travelers, book shops, bars, restaurants, travel agents, tattoo halls beauty salons.

At the end of a Phi Phi day people stroll from their hotels along these shops, window shopping, organizing dive trips meeting up and the atmosphere bubbles along.

This area is also near the Reggae bar the center of the nightlife for the island.

Reggae bar sign Phi Phi Island Photo

The Reggae bar on Phi Phi island is a legend, just like Bob Marley but perhaps a bit less profound! Apologies to any Bob Marley fans.

The Reggae is all about fun and the parties continue most nights as all days are New Years Eve on Phi Phi island.

If you are looking for a big night to meet loads of people, head for Phi Phi island Reggae bar.

Hippo Divers Phi Phi Island Photo

Hippo Divers is in front of the Phi Phi Hotel and on Phi Phi Hotel land. This is the main dive shop catering to the Korean market but also has western dive masters who do fun dives.

The advantage of diving with Hippo divers is that is close to the Phi Phi pier so it is quick and easy to get to the dive boats and quick to clean up after the dives. It is also very close to the confined water area used to teach the Padi Open water diving certificate.

Oz divers, Phi Phi Island Photo

Oz diving is on the main Phi Phi street on Phi Phi Don. Oz diving is a superb place to hook up with people who enjoy diving for fun.

Oz diving primarily focuses on Phi Phi Ley and Bida Island Diving in the high seas. In the low Oz diving boats will dive Phi Phi Don walls at Hao Ragute and sheltered bays like Pi ley and Loh Samah on Phi Phi Ley Island.

Oz diving is like the other village dive shops in that it is very close to the pier, just 40 meters, and close to the confined water area for the Padi Open water course training.

Visa Diving center Phi Phi Island Photo

Visa Dive Center on Phi Phi Island is run by Bang Lok, a family that has been on Phi Phi for years. The Diving center is only 50 meters from Phi Phi Pier which makes reaching the dive boats for the dive sites a breeze (some dive schools are a 5 minutes walk which can be walm if you are in a diving suite).

It is also only 60 meters from the confined water where PADI open water divers train and check their basic dive school before going out to dive the main reefs off Phi Phi ley.

As you come off the main pier you cannot miss the shop which is on the left once you go up the main street.
