Business Profile

Most suited to travel and tourism with its gorgeous beaches, tranquil bays, mountains, sea and luxurious palm trees, Phi Phi Island has seen a decrease in industry in recent years which makes for a depressing business profile.

Tourism accounts for 3 million visitors every year. Because of this influx of visitors, new roads, hospitals and public utilities have been built. It has become a vital issue of the business community to preserve the natural beauty that brought the visitors in light of what may be considered progress and may erode the landscape.

Imported from Malaya in 1903, rubber trees have adorned the landscape and makes up rubber plantations which is part of the business profile of Phi Phi Island. However, the demands of tourism, and soaring real estate prices have forced landowners to sell off the property for other uses to increase the business profile of Phi Phi Island. Tin has been in mines on the island for an eternity, however it is not in need. The dredging of tin in local waters has also diminished due to regulations that protect the ocean floor such as its coral reefs. However, in the name of tourism and a better business profile for Phi Phi Island, old-tin workings on land have been converted resort hotels, marinas, golf courses and bungee-jumping arenas.

Still, Phi Phi Island, as part of its business profile, has an active fruit growing business. The harvest includes coconuts, pineapples, bananas, and cashews. However, more and more farmland is being turned over to increase the business profile in Phi Phi Island-namely, its travel and tourism.

Fishing continues to be a primary part of the business profile of Phi Phi Island. However, as seen before, each instance of prosperity has a down side. In this case, smaller fisheries are being hurt by modern trawling, some of it illegal. And larger fisheries by overfishing deplete the amount of commercial fish stocks.

Even if Phi Phi Island is a beach resort off the coast of Thailand, it does have amenities for the aspiring entrepreneur. It has five post offices. Mobile phones are also available for sale on Phi Phi Island to increase its business profile.

International calls can also be made for a set amount offices. Overnight couriers are available. Mobile phones can be used by buying a local SIM card for every five minutes at mobile phone stands. These stands are usually located outside of convenience stands. Public phones provide local service and can be utilized by either coins or cards. Cards can be bought at the post office or other outlets. The business profile, it can be seen, includes an excellent telecommunications network.

Internet cafes also exist for those travelers who can't forget business. They are an important aspect of the business profile of Phi Phi Island. They are in the main tourist locations and are reasonable. Beware of the high rates hotels charge. Some wi-ki areas exist-namely, at Starbucks and The Books in Phuket town.
